Church & State Takes World’s Best Malbec at 2015

Church & State Wines is proud to announce its 2012 Coyote Bowl Mablec has been
awarded the title of Best Malbec at North America’s largest and most influential wine competition. Fielding over 5000 entries from dozens of countries around the world, the Coyote Bowl Malbec was awarded 96 points and declared the Best Malbec at this years competition.
Celebrating its 35th year in 2015, the San Francisco International Wine Competition – the largest, most influential international wine competition in America – is judged by a prestigious panel of nationally recognized wine experts. Judging is based on a blind, consensual procedure, ensuring competitive integrity, as it remains the nation’s most respected wine competition.
This tremendous accolade follows the 2011 vintage, also awarded 96 points and Best Canadian Wine at the 2014 Los Angeles International Wine Competition, also amongst the most stringently judged competitions on the continent.
This groundbreaking award follows the five Canada’s Best Red Wine awards bestowed upon the winery since 2009, as well as three Canada’s Best White Blend awards since 2012. Other award-winning wines of note include the Bordeaux-style blend Quintessential, Coyote Bowl Syrah, Coyote Bowl Chardonnay, the Rhone-style blend Trebella and and the extremely provocative Lost Inhibitions series.
Church & State Wines was founded by Kim Pullen in 2004, and now farms 125 acres of estate vineyard land in the South Okanagan and a further 10 acres on Vancouver Island. The winery operates two winery facilities, on the Black Sage Bench in Oliver, BC and in Brentwood Bay, BC.
